Sports mad!

Welcome to the spring issue of the Clarence Environment Centre newsletter.

After receiving numerous complaints about our lack of sports coverage, we’ve decided to give you a full sports edition so you can catch up with the latest in all your favourite games of catch, kick, flick, chop, pump and run.

It’s been a big day sports fans. We’ve seen more wrong ‘uns occurring in State Forests and we will keep appealing. This type of thing has been going on for too long and it’s just not cricket.

The Regional Water Supply has inspired some great surfing at Pipeline, with all contestants desperately trying to avoid being wrecked on the reef. New surfers in Coffs Harbour are dropping in and really putting pressure on the conditions, but the locals are fighting back.

The Greens are aiming for a hole-in-one at the state final next March, and we’re talking boxing here. The wood fired power station proposal has stopped for lunch. We can’t assume it’s a dead ball though, and it’s more than likely the Forest Products Association is working on their silly over-spin behind the nets. We know they’re checking the rule-book for loopholes.

On the international scene, skirmish is being played in more and more countries. Iraq has been eliminated from the World Camel Sprint Championship for use of performance-enhancing rugs. The US is seeking to build up an aggressive new team in the Middle East, while Australia has offered to supply a reserve team. With so much exciting sport, it’s a challenge to keep our eye on the ball and cover the other player. Just remember to keep your footprint small and don’t be afraid to argue with the umpire.
