CENTRE NEWS

We're now fully settled in the South Grafton Emporium, and have had a lot of positive feedback from our volunteers and the general public on our improved accessibility and interesting surroundings. The library is more or less fully catalogued and our display boards are being finalised. Both Gift and Op Shop are ever-popular with a large variety of items including old favourites like henna, perfume oils, incense, cards and many handmade items and natural healing products.

The last few months saw a variety of activities including two entries in the Jacaranda Float Procession (NEFA stump truck and Peace float), market stall at the Southside Markets and an afternoon tea party for our volunteers.

As our Art Bank project folded due to lack of interest, we donated several paintings, including one by Davida Allen, to the Grafton Regional Art Gallery where they were featured in a "Recent Acquisitions" exhibition in January.

We were very fortunate in receiving a small equipment grant under the International Year of Volunteers program, which enabled us to buy a new computer and digital video camera. This will greatly aid in green policing and other worthwhile projects.

We also received a small GVEHO grant to help with our increased expenditure.

Planned activities:

Music Cafe - This is a monthly event (first Wednesday) held at the South Grafton Emporium. Since the previous organisors have taken a well earned rest, a variety of groups now runs this great night and it's our turn this March and September, which should be great fundraising opportunities, so please support it if you can and tell all your friends.

International Women's Day - March 8

We'll have a stall at the festivities in Market Square, with special emphasis on refugee issues.

Please take note of the Special General Meeting advertised in this newsletter, and please attend or assign your proxy vote to another member.
