An article by Mark Dunn on the 28/05/03 says that Australia will be billed for the US bombs that the RAAF dropped on Iraq. during the war. The bill will run to millions of dollars. Australian F/A18 Hornets flew 350 combat missions, dropping 122 laser guided bombs (including MK84’s weighing 220kgs and cost $29,800 each and GBII series bombs weighing 907 kgs at $35,900 each).
The Australian Defence (Ha! Ha!) Force is required to pay for the Satellite time needed to connect the Canberra War Room with the command in the Gulf. The bill includes the cost of the US food eaten by Australian soldiers. The ADF will also be invoiced by a UK firm that provided heavy lift aircraft to move its equipment to the Gulf.
With these bills coming in, we of course have no option but to cut back on health and schools costs and of course uni students must help by paying for their courses.
