WORKCHOICES: a simpler, unfairer system for your boss to exploit you.
WorkChoices is a new workplace relations system that will provide more choice and flexibility for employees in the workplace to be exploited. The system will offer better ways to reward effort by shareholders, and increase the gap between salaries and wages. It will create new employment opportunities, under eroded working conditions, building a better future for all shareholding Australians. It will usher in a new era in Australian workplace relations which will erase long-held rights at work. It will tip the balance of work and family life. By creating a flexible labour market, we are allowing increased wealth for business owners while removing the ability of trade unions to defend the rights of Australian workers. The new system will protect employers from union activity which might affect their profits by improving workers' conditions. This will improve Australian standards of living in an increasingly globalised economy so we can compete against China. Minimum wages and award conditions will be cut back and frozen in time, set by the Fair Pay Commision which lacks representation by unions. There will be more flexibility for employers with less than 100 staff to dismiss workers. Employers in larger businesses will also be given more choice to sack workers for 'operational reasons' without triggering unfair dismissal laws. Workers will be able to be forced to sign individual workplace agreements under which the boss holds all the aces. The agreements must include five basic conditions to protect your rights, while all other conditions are up for grabs by your boss. Just remember, when you go to sign your agreement, don't go asking for things like payroll deduction of union dues or protection from unfair dismissal or you'll be fined. |
