CENTRE NEWS
It’s finally done – the move has happened. The resource centre including library and office are now at the South Grafton Emporium, right next to our gift shop and op shop. While we initially worried about the reduction in space, there is room for all the essentials. The library / meeting room is of generous proportions and there is a lockup office plus several desks and work stations. A number of working bees saw bookshelves built, mainly from local Camphor Laurel, thus making use of an otherwise unwanted resource. A big thank you to all the people who turned up for the working bees and the move itself. A special thank you to Jim Knight for re-painting the front of the old CEC building and installing the new shelves in the new building. We have now rectified our greatest problem, limited accessibility, including wheelchair access. We have already noticed an increase in library visitors.
In addition to the library and clipping service we now also offer photocopying and a fax service.
The op shop continues to attract a lot of customers, as does the gift shop, with favourites like henna, incense, crystal deodorants, natural healing products and Nymboida pottery. We have increased our range in novelty beanies and hats, as well as our range of cards. New Moon diaries will be available by the end of the month and Moon Planting Guides are here now. So do come in and have a look at our new premises.
Last month saw our AGM and first general meeting at the new premises. The new committee consists of:
El Presidento Jim Knight
El Vice-Presidento Mark Purcell
El Secretario Dave Funnell
La Treasurer Karin Kirk El Public Officer Pete Magins
Los General Members: Gary Clarke, Rivka Forest, Fig Forest
Both the President’s annual report and the Treasurer’s report are in the minutes book, available for members to read.
